Which dehydrator is best when tray cleanup comes first?
The best dehydrator with dishwasher-safe stainless steel trays is the one whose exact manual allows machine washing and whose trays fit your dishwasher. Those are separate checks. This shortlist compares three distinct COSORI models, not three colors or bundles of the same machine. Their manuals explicitly permit washing the trays in a dishwasher, while excluding the mesh screen and fruit roll sheet.[3][4][5]
Choose by the batch you can prepare and the washing space you actually have. CFD-P501-SUS has the smallest stated cabinet dimensions here; CP267-FD provides six trays in a larger cabinet; CFD-P101-SUS provides ten trays and needs substantially more counter space. Cabinet dimensions are not tray dimensions, and they do not tell you whether a rack clears your dishwasher spray arm.[3][4][5]
Match the cabinet to your cleaning routine
COSORI CP267-FD: 6 trays
A middle-size cabinet for a regular cleaning routine. The manufacturer lists 13.4 × 17.8 × 12.4 in for the appliance. Six trays still need rack space; the mesh screen and fruit roll sheet must be washed by hand. [3]
See this exact listing and its documented specifications. Before ordering, match the model number on the listing and in the supplied manual; do not substitute a similarly named plastic-tray version.
COSORI CFD-P501-SUS: 5 trays
The smallest stated cabinet dimensions in this shortlist. The manufacturer lists 13.9 × 11.3 × 8.9 in for the appliance. Less drying space per batch; hand-wash the included mesh screen and fruit roll sheet. [4]
See this exact listing and its documented specifications. Before ordering, match the model number on the listing and in the supplied manual; do not substitute a similarly named plastic-tray version.
COSORI CFD-P101-SUS: 10 trays
A larger cabinet when you want ten removable steel trays. The manufacturer lists 16.9 × 21.3 × 16.4 in for the appliance. Ten trays create a bigger washing load. Check rack clearance before assuming they fit in one dishwasher cycle. [5]
See this exact listing and its documented specifications. Before ordering, match the model number on the listing and in the supplied manual; do not substitute a similarly named plastic-tray version.
Why only three models?
We chose a shorter, supportable list instead of filling five places with unresolved cleaning claims. All three are from one brand because these were the distinct models for which we could align the exact listing, a manufacturer manual, stainless-tray documentation and usable Amazon review evidence. This is a deliberately limited comparison, not a claim that COSORI is the only manufacturer making suitable equipment.
The initial Magic Mill five-tray and Pro ten-tray candidates had manufacturer-linked manuals saying that parts are not dishwasher safe unless explicitly specified otherwise. Their sales pages advertise dishwasher-safe trays, but the linked instructions do not clearly resolve the exception, and model details differ within the documents. We excluded them pending model-specific clarification rather than treating sales copy as stronger than care instructions.[1][2] We also did not qualify the initial OLIXIS and Manastin eight-tray candidates: an exact matching manufacturer manual was not established in this review. That means unverified here, not proven unsafe.
We investigated the Excalibur Performance six- and ten-tray alternatives too. The shared manufacturer manual says both “Dishwashing is not recommended” and “Trays may be placed in the dishwasher.” That unresolved conflict is why neither was added merely to reach five products.[6]
How this cleaning-focused shortlist works
Eligibility comes before ranking: a complete dehydrator, an exact model match, stainless steel trays, explicit dishwasher permission in the manufacturer instructions, and a collected positive review count and average for the exact Amazon listing. We checked US offers separately before publication. Live price and availability badges remain subject to the site's expiry guard; they are not a permanent stock promise.
The editorial score uses the same published review-and-documentation formula as our other comparisons. It is not a cleaning-speed measurement or an Amazon customer rating. We did not assign a bonus for having more trays, force a five-product list, or adjust scores to create a winner. The list starts in descending editorial-score order; title and price controls let you change how you browse. These are document checks, not hands-on cleaning tests.
Dishwasher-safe trays do not make the whole machine washable
On each included model, the care instructions distinguish the removable trays from the mesh screen, fruit roll sheet and electrical housing. Unplug the appliance and let it cool. Soak trays in hot, soapy water to loosen residue; use a soft brush if needed. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth and dry parts before storage or reuse. The manuals prohibit putting the mesh screen or fruit roll sheet in the dishwasher.[3][4][5]
These instructions do not establish a universal dishwasher rack position, detergent brand or maximum cycle temperature. We do not invent those settings. Check the manual supplied with your unit, ask the manufacturer about any remaining cycle restrictions, and measure your dishwasher's usable rack width, depth and spray-arm clearance. A ten-tray appliance may require multiple washing loads even if every tray is individually dishwasher safe.
Stainless steel does not mean food slides off without soaking. We have not measured scrubbing time, residue removal, corrosion resistance or repeated dishwasher-cycle durability. Do not assume accessory liners have the same care rules as the steel trays, and do not put the powered cabinet, plug or cord in water. For the complete routine, read our dehydrator cleaning guide. For a different purchasing priority, compare everyday drying models or batch-preparation options.
Where the exact Amazon listing text states both a tray count and a heater wattage with explicit units, our documented spec-fit score is 100 × [0.6 × min(stated trays / 10, 1) + 0.4 × min(stated watts / 1,000, 1)], rounded to a whole number and shown as a 0–10 rating. Only wattages between 200 and 2,000 W are treated as heater ratings. Listings missing either stated value use the documentation completeness score below instead; ties use the product slug. Tray count and wattage are seller capacity claims, not drying-performance measurements, and this index is not a customer review.
Where a listing has no documented spec-fit inputs, our documentation completeness score is 100 × [0.5 × min(documented feature bullets / 8, 1) + 0.3 × min(product images / 5, 1) + 0.2 × (brand documented ? 1 : 0)], rounded to a whole number and shown as a 0–10 rating. Every input is read from the stored Amazon listing record, so the same listing always produces the same score. This measures how completely the listing is documented — it is not a performance test, a quality measurement or a customer review.
Where Amazon publicly displays customer reviews for a listing (average star rating and review count captured from the public product page), the raw editorial score is 100 × [0.45 × (Amazon average / 5) × min(review count / 50, 1) + 0.35 × min(log10(1 + review count) / log10(1 + 5000), 1) + 0.20 × documentation score / 100]. The confidence factor min(review count / 50, 1) damps averages based on very few reviews, and the logarithmic volume term rewards large public review volumes, so widely and highly reviewed listings rank ahead of thinly reviewed ones. Listings with no captured public review data use the documentation score alone. This combined index reflects the public Amazon reputation and the listing documentation — it is not a physical test and not our own product testing.
Formula-calculated scores use the raw result divided by ten. The publisher-assigned score below is a separate editorial judgment, not the output of the Amazon-review formula. The published shortlist and its order are retained.
Publisher-assigned rating: Cosori Food Dehydrator: 9.4/10 — manually assigned by Elias, the publisher, as the editorial rating of the first-ranked listing on this comparison (publisher_assigned). It is a subjective editorial judgment, not the output of the Amazon-review formula, not an Amazon customer rating and not a physical test result. The value sits between 9.1 and 9.4 and is stepped from the listing's unchanged formula score, as described in our methodology. The shortlist and its order, the Amazon review counts, customer averages and underlying calculated scores are unchanged; cards, summaries and table use this same displayed rating.
